Summer Camp runs from June-August. Camp is all about outdoor fun, lots of socialization, as well as active camper care and supervision. Services include week-long sleep over sessions (Sunday-Saturday), as well as a day camp program (Monday-Friday). The day camp can operate in cooperation with local school districts who offer extended school year programs. We specialize in serving campers whose ability levels range from low to high. Our Adventure Camp Weeks are for campers who are higher functioning physically and intellectually; have non-aggressive behaviors; are verbal and continent; and will always stay with the group on our trips.
Weekend Getaways occur throughout the fall and spring. Beginning Friday evenings and ending Sunday mornings, the sleep-over Getaway programs feature lots of camp fun: sing-alongs, storytelling, talent shows, and, for the Adventure Camp Weekends (see camper description above), a Saturday day trip!. Most of the Getaway staff members are selected from our Summer Camp counselor team.
We serve children, youth, and adults whose ability levels vary. Some are very verbal, social, and independent; others are non-verbal, non-ambulatory and/or incontinent. They all share a common love for camp, fun, and friendships.
Camp Joy's 57 wooded acres include a swimming pool, dining hall, horse corral, infirmary, activity areas, and more. Our facilities are barrier free for easy wheelchair access, and we have lots of paved pathways.
Visitors (family members and folks new to camp and would like a tour) must contact the camp at least 24 hours before they would like to come to Camp Joy. All must depart before 9:00PM - - visitors are not permitted to spend the night.
